Man, i think, is a lazy animal. Although he has been blessed with the multitudes of wrinkles on his grey matter (some of them, at least), which pushes him to find newer ways of discovering comforts., he won't do something unless hez pushed to the corner !!!
What is a pity (and these days, it's in fashion to even say the word 'GREEN') that it isn't always a green way that he designs first...! He will cut trees to build homes, then he will cut more of them to furnish his home. he will 'drink petroleum' to power vechiles on the road or in the air et al and only when the gas price hits beyond the national average of 4$ per gallon, will he think " oh hell, there has to be a better way to do this"..( maybe thats why i m writing this myself).... yeah right !!! Only if the Oil giants allow you to do it !!! Too much of economic dependencies there, if you know what i mean !!!
Just heard a car being stolen in my friend's neighbourhood in Stamford, CT. Apparently, it wasn't a break-in... no glasses broken et al... So, using some clever magnets or tools etc ?? who knows ???
Makes me think on the lines of something which's been revolving in my head for quite a long time.
1. If laptops can be "Logged-On" by recognising finger-prints and even retina-scans, (like in the Cruise movie "Minority Report"), why can't cars be opened the same way ??? Also, on that basis, cars wouldn't also need keys !!!
2. Why none of the 2008 cars, launched in US, use SOLAR POWER to 'HYBRIDIZE' the way the car operates. Ever noticed how hot ur car gets in the open just sitting there, during summer, while you are hogging on that grilled chicken sandwich at a rest-area on the NJ turnpike ???? Cant all that heat be used constructively?
Almost a decade back, when Boris Becker, Pete Sampras were in the form of their life, there was this annual ATP championship held in Stuggart, Germany ( i think, not sure of the venue but somewhere in Germany). Nothign special, eh ? But lsiten to this almost 10 or more years earlier, there was this GREEn thing that the organisers tried out... All the line cameras placed above the courts were operated by the HEAT generated from the players movement on the court. The court surface was made of a special 'substance' that transferred all this heat with little or no losses to these cameras which operated them....
Now think of this, extrapolate this idea to operating street lights on highways...!!! Have these lights built out in a hybrid way ... i.e. Have them work on heat (either from the sun or from the vehicle movement) and when it's below a particular thresh-hold or when the charge on it goes at nught, switch to Normal power...!!!
3. On similar lines, let's say you are averaging 65 MPH or higher on highways. Can't all that windpower, striking against that windshield and all sides of your car be used constructively to do some 'chores' inside the car and give the 'gas' a rest !!!
Same should be able to be extrapolated to aeroplanes !!!
My science teacher from school used to tell me that ideas are important. Implementation, that follows, is just a matter-of-fact-of technology !!!
Now, i may be behind the gun here if someone has already thought of this and gone ahead to implement this.. but just that this thought came to my mind when i was just reading HONDA's new 'WATER-POWERED car....
So if you guys see this getting implemented and the credit lines don't include my name, then you all know where you first heard it on !!!! ;-)
Since i don't have a voice recorder, i will keep writing in with all such things, as and when !!!..
Until the next bright idea, Alvida !!!
Cheers,
Nikhil.

Luck favours the 'maa-ki'
"Luck favours the brave".. In this case, it's truly the case of favouring the lucky, else, there's no reason how edges to the keeper keep going un-noticed ... There's no bravery in that... Cowardice, maybe, .. all marketed under the name of gamesmanship and professionalism. All this, IMHO !!!!
Just how much more luck will Symonds enjoy???
After the India - Australia Test series 2007-08, wherein he drank from a cool pool of good luck and saw the series end 2-1 in Aussie favour when it should really have been in India favour , his tryst with destiny continues !!! I was lucky enough to catch this on the web.
I wanted to write a huge essay on this but i think, for now, this link ( from cricino) will suffice in telling the moral of my story....

Maybe 2008 is his lucky year... Off late, i have been a strong believer of the "law of averages"... barring IPL, wherein i was banking on that to go against Rajasthan Royals, i think Symonds will also have this hit him... or more so, i want this to hit him...! Lucky 'maa-ki', eh !!!
